About the identity verification process

As a regulated exchange, we require all customers to provide proof of their identity and address by completing our identity confirmation process upon signing up for a Bullish account. You cannot register with us nor trade and/or deposit assets without successfully completing the identity confirmation process

Required documents

Once you have registered for an account, you will receive an email from our onboarding team asking for the following identification information:

  • Government approved ID that shows your nationality (Valid passport, National ID card or a full valid driving license)

  • Proof of address

  • Taxpayer Identification Number (for individual accounts)

Telephone bill (landline only – not mobile phone bill)

Internet service provider account statement

Insurance statement (e.g. policy document for home or vehicle insurance)

Issued within the 3 calendar months preceding date of application

Investment account statement (share, portfolio, or unit trust statement)

Issued within the 3 calendar months preceding date of application

Government issue ID card that states address (must be machine-readable i.e. contain a MRZ)

Must be valid and different to the document provided for identification purposes

Note: As part of our identity confirmation process, you also will be asked to provide information in relation to the net worth and identify the source of your wealth/funds.


Identity verification steps

Identity

  1. Log into https://exchange.bullish.com/. 
  2. From your User Menu, choose Complete Confirmation. You will be redirected to a new window for the identity confirmation.

  3. Choose Begin verifying.

  4. Choose your Nationality, Country of Residence, and Country issuing your government ID. Then, choose Continue.

  5. Choose the type of government ID.

  6. Submit your ID by either taking a photo, uploading a copy, or using your mobile device.

  7. Choose Get started when you are ready to take your photo in order to confirm your ID. Follow the prompts on the screen.

Address

  1. Enter your address and choose Continue.

  2. Submit your proof of address by either taking a photo, uploading a copy, or using your mobile device.

    Note: The proof of address document should include your legal name and address. The document must be issued within three calendar months before the date you register for a Bullish account.
  3. Choose Submit.

Tax information (for individual accounts)

  1. Enter your Tax Residence and Tax Identifier Number (TIN) if applicable. Choose Add additional tax residence if you have more than one tax residence.

    Note:Your tax residency is the country where you are resident/registered for tax purposes. Each country has its own rules for defining tax residence. For more information on tax residence, please consult your tax adviser or the tax residency pages of the OECD CRS portal
  2. Choose I am not a U.S. Person Then, choose Continue.
    Note: “U.S. Person” means a U.S. citizen or resident individual, a partnership or corporation organized in the United States or under the laws of the United States or any State thereof, a trust if:
    (i) a court within the United States would have authority under applicable law to render orders or judgments concerning substantially all issues regarding administration of the trust, and
    (ii) one or more U.S. persons have the authority to control all substantial decisions of the trust, or an estate of a decedent that is a citizen or resident of the United States. This definition shall be interpreted in accordance with the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. 
  3. For each tax residence selected, provide a Tax Identification Number (TIN). You will be asked for additional information if your nationality/location of residence/country issuing your government ID does not match your tax residence.
  4. Certify that you have understood the Tax Declaration, and choose Continue.

Identity confirmation processing time

The identity confirmation process will take 1-3 days and you will receive an email once it is completed. If additional is required, the process could take longer.
